Side Trek Three: Regrets Unfelt and Unexpressed

Tria and her gathered team assist Anna of Scardale in ambushing Commander Ustavian of the Zhentarim in Scardale Town. Anna decides that she needs to flee for a time, but before she does, she intends to strike a blow against Sembia, the Black Network and her father.

The team steals Ustavian’s key and breaks into the Zhent occupied keep at Silvantusfleur. Their investigation reveals some of the Zhents hedonistic excesses but also hints at the possibility that the Zhentarim are sending raiding groups into the Dalelands for a mysterious benefactor.

A fight ensues where the Banite High Cardinal Kraden and his familiar bodyguard Wicked Fang lose their lives, but Tria’s team is forced to flee with their stolen map.

The map reveals that the Thayans and the Black Network have been meeting at various clandestine locations along the Scardale coast, and it identifies the location of the evening’s meeting sight where the weapons are likely to arrive.

Anna rows out to the Thayan ship, The Eltabbar’s Grace, and the party siezes it from its undead crew, but only after discovering that the Thayan weapon shipments have a secondary purpose: to seed the Sembian and Scardale coasts with undead soldiers, possibly a potential invasion force.

Having taken the ship and its remaining cargo but fearing capture by the Zhentarim and Sembian forces in thier wake, Tria asks Anna to set their course for the Moonsea and eventually the neutral port of Hillsfar, where they can rendevous with the Red River Adventurers and inform them of what they have learned.

Part Twelve: Father Knows Best
"Zanne's turn next. "

Zanne seeks out his fellow adventurers and runs into his brother Mmavyn who confides in Zanne the fact that he is not the only half brother in the family. Trer’t’cuur, the Drow Warlock, tells Zanne that he intends to discharge his debt to Zanne’s companions and together they seek out the rest of the group.

The Red River Adventurers defeat Shynestrael, the actress that was in truth the Godless rabble rousing Lamia behind the recent hate crimes tearing Myth Drannor’s streets apart. The companions discover that they may be too late: the Godless movement have been duped by Senator Vaeness to sabotage the Mythal protecting the city.

Tria Pacen reveals to the companions that she has decided to form her own band of adventurers along with Thia’s brother Mmavyn, the Kobold Mrauzlombra, Codrus the Minotaur and the Warlock Trer’t’cuur, and that together they intend to seek out Jonn’s sister Anna in Scardale to aid her and reveal to her what her father may have done to her soul.

The companions race to the Council chamber only to be forced to negotiate with the Coronal Guard who suspect Thia of having murdered her mentor Giarin.

Redgar struggles to aid the Mythal while Ambassador Ullard begs Thia not to reveal her mother’s complicity in recent events. The situation boils over when the barrier between worlds comes crashing down and Devils start to pour through into Fearun and the companions start to get sucked into Hell, and it is only Redgar and his companions that can save the Mythal and restore reality!

In the wake of the Mythal incident, Thia negotiates with her family on how they can maintain their family name, and Thia learns the truth behind her mother’s state of mind.

The companions interrogate Ambassador Ullard, who reveals that he was party to plans by Lord Allacian of Coramyr to try to use coming war with the Netherese to annex and unite sections of Daerlun, Sembia and the Dalelands under the banner of the Purple Dragon Throne, endangering the sovreignty of Coramyr’s ally nations. Zanne confronts his father about the identity of his mother only to be given a sense of how powerful his mother really is by the fear in his father’s eyes. The companions feelings are strained as those loyal to the Purple Throne express their intention to covet the Mythal’s secrets that have fallen into thier hands over the objections of their allies who hold loyalty to other flags.

Isaac speaks to Lady Fenrikka, who accuses Isaac of being part of a movement to put General Tellvard on the Dragon Throne. After a stolen moment of lust, Fenrikka suggests to Isaac that if he agrees to support the right agenda when the time comes and allows Sgadowfell Keep to be used in furtherance of that goal, she could see to it that his star rises in the New Cormyran order. During a parade in honour of the Red River Adventurers, Zanne is approached by the man he did not expect to see—the spy next door who has been monitoring his life covertly for the Ghosts of Evantide. What secrets might he hold?

Part Eleven: In Loco Parentis
"He drew a map so there must be some reason to fight here. What do we fight?"

Thia returns home and faces the scepticism of her siblings, who do not share her suspicions of their father, Ambassador Ullard.

It seems clear to the Red River Adventurers that Myth Drannor is a city being torn apart by a growing “Godless” movement that seeks to undermine worship of the Gods in Myth Drannor. Isaac is forced to hide away Tria Pacen in an inn lest she be arrested for her allegiance to Erathis.

Thia is given free reign to investigate, and comes across the Devil Imp Laxius in her mother’s office. Laxius claims that Thia’s mother, Senator Vaeness, summoned him to assist her treasonous research into undermining Myth Drannor’s mythal; the mystical device that protects Myth Drannor from invasion from the lower planes. Thia suspects her mother’s actions were the result of some external agency controlling her actions.

The reassembled Red River Adventurers meet with the foppish and irresponsible Tulkin Obraskyr and his aunt Lady Fennrika who seem to have been sent to discourage Redgar’s political activities. They then question Senator Chaole, who reveals Senator Vaeness acted deceitfully in her last days.

The group tracks down Thia’s brother Mmavyn who is hiding out in the Temple of Correllon, along with his toddler brother Nioose. The Red River Adventurers are forced to defend the temple against a gang of Godless thugs who are there to desecrate the temple.

Redgar meets with Alarphon Sailusel from the War Wizard’s college, who seems willing to support Redgar’s continued Agency, but suggests that if he wishes to make peace he should speak to Lady Fennrika, who might be able to mollify her husband.

Thia visits Giarin who is being held for treason in the palace, and discovers the shocking secret he couldn’t reveal, Senator Vaeness is alive and being held illegally in the pillars of Scorn with him. Evidently he was forced to restrain her by a desire to cover up the Senator’s treason, but was later manipulated into helping Ullard fake her death so that he would not be tied to his marriage.

The Red River Adventurers investigate a local theatre said to be inciting many of the Godless attacks and discover that the lead Actress Synestrael is in fact a murderous Lamia, who is using the Godless to feed her bloodlust.

Part Ten: Love and Let Die
"Elves are all assholes."

The Clouddancer lands outside Thia’s family estate and Giarin accompanies her to her reunion with the family she ran away from seven months before while the rest of the company travels on to the Istani outpost to declare their intentions to enter Myth Drannor to the xenophobic elves.

Redgar and Hestia discuss resignedly their newfound engagement both expressing their ambivalence towards it as well as their shared concerns regarding the state of Coramyr’s War Wizard College. Isaac receives a visit from former Independence Master Tria Pacen, who provides Isaac with a gift and expresses her thanks over his actions in defense of Daerlun. Zanne shows a bit of excessive curiosity regarding the Clouddancer’s secrets but in so doing learns a bit more about his own nature and abilities.

Upon arrival at Istani outpost the Red River discover a hostage negotiation is underway between the Coronal Guard and a refugee community of Drow. They step into the role of neutral third party and learn from an old acquaintance, the Warlock Drow leader Trer’t’curr, that the Drow may have been set up by Myth Drannor’s negotiator, who deliberately set up a situation where violence between the Drow and the Coronal Guard was inevitable.

The dragon Karxasis kidnaps Jonn, forcing Isaac to pursue them. Karxasis reveals to Jonn the fact that Tiamat has claim upon Jonn’s soul upon death, a fact which Jonn takes to mean his father sold it to the Goddess of Greed in order to achieve financial success. Karxasis provides Jonn with a magic sword and charges him to seek out the missing bones of Frazlofra the Grim whose remains he suspects are in danger of being resurrected.

The companions speak to Captain Swevbole, whom they manage to pressure into agreeing to terms under which the Drow may successfully relocate to caves under the protection of Karxasis.

Redgar is then summoned to Shadowdale by his father, Lord Tellvard. Elminster has been murdered and the clues lead to the Agents of Netheril attempting to steal Mystra’s power as part of the Ordulin Maelstrom threat. Who is the mysterious Mistress and what does she want with Elminster’s head?

Finally the Red River Adventurers travel to the Feywild plane of existence to seek the bones of Frazlofra the Grim, only to discover that he has returned to life as a Dracolich and has escaped into the Feywild seeking a means to return to his dimension.

Side Trek Two: Bahamut's Regret

Six Metalic Dragon Wyrmlings: Mekphlasis the Bold, Kaxasis the Wise, Yilfir the Coward, Ovavia the Cunning, Telknebras the Viscious and Drakkur the Savage; are all born in a place of great peril. Despite desperate odds, they fight bravely to escape the clutches of Frazlofra the Grim, a powerful Black Dragon and the dispossessed mate of the imprisoned immortal wrym Shadraxil. Frazlofra has taken to breeding Draconian ho# rrors using the eggs of Bahamut’s children.

Despite their youth and peril the hatchlings fight bravely and defeat Frazlofa, but at the cost of one of their own, Ovavia, whose soul now empowers the blade Aecris.

Side Trek One: The Book of Lies

A group of Shadovar agents storm one of the outlying fortresses of Zhentil Keep. Thier intention—to secure the fabled Cyirishad, the book of lies penned by the mad prisoner god Cyric.

Part Nine: For Love or One's Country
"She's Only One Woman..."

The revelation of the scope of Ambassador Ullard’s plot to manipulate Daerlun, Myth Drannor, Coramyr, Netheril and Sembia into bequeathing him control of their most contested border lands brings the Red River Adventurers to a moment of crisis. The mysterious and manipulative Lady Fennrika presents a tempting alternative—dance to her tune and Coramyr will still profit while the Ambassador is left in the cold! All they need to do is abandon their intentions to use the Sun Tower Challenge to free Hestia from her impending marriage. Will Redgar be willing to pay the price to keep Fennrika from scuttling their efforts? They say politics make strange bedfellows…

Jonn struggles with the sudden attention of greedy bitter old men. He is confronted first by Hestia’s father Lord Pyren, who warns Jonn that he does not approve of any intentions that he, a penniless merchants son, might have towards Pyren’s only daughter. Jonn is also forced to deal with the ambitions of his father, who sees in Hestia’s affection for his son a chance to elevate his family’s standing in wake of embarassing family scandal.

Following a lead handed down from the Mysterious Ghosts of Evantide, Jonn and Zanne prevent Jonn’s sister Anna from being kidnapped by the Zhentarim but in doing so reveal Anna’s connection to the Scardale resistance. The revelation of her manipulation of her father’s business leads to a wedge between Anna and Jonn, even as Zanne begins to earn her grudging respect.

Isaac takes it upon himself to arrainge the back room deal that will secure border lands for Coramyr at the expense of argeeing to Redgar’s loveless engagement to Hestia. Isaac has put his country first, but will that decision drive a wedge between the new Lord of Shadowfell Keep and the members of his company? The more idealistic may disapprove of his pragmatism and apparent profiteering on the back of his company’s efforts.

The victory of the Red River Adventurers over Giarin’s Myth Drannor team in the final bout of the Sun Tower Challenge leads to Giarin’s apparent defection into Thia’s service. Thia promises to accompany Giarin to Myth Drannor, but before that can happen she must protect Giarin from the vengence of the man whose ambition they have thwarted—Ambassador Ullard. Thia and company must face off against her father; the man who has nothing left to gain but the blood of those who destroyed his ambitions.

Part Eight: The Sun Tower Challenge
"We're fighting for... love! That sounds good..."

The companions stepped into the role of local folk heroes when they entered the Shieldmeet Sun Tower Challenge, gaining a groundswell of support after defeating the returning champions, The Beatdown Gang in the first round of the challenge.

Many factions were facing off for the Sun Tower prize—the chance to make an honourable request that the local nobility would be forced to agree to in good faith. Lady Fenrikka, Redgar’s aunt by marriage, attempted to convince Redgar that using the Sun Tower request to end Hestia’s marriage was wasteful, and that it would be better to let her smuggle Hestia out of town and for Redgar to use the request in service to the interests of the Purple Throne.

Thia approaches the charitable faction known as TheOrder of the Blue Flame who give her an omen that she will find herself victorious in the coming contest.

Formidable teams were standing in the path of the Red River Adventurers, and in the second round they faced the Zhentarim’s team, lead by a brutal gnoll cutthroat by the name of Wicked Fang who is backed up by a gang of potent Goliath athletes. The Red River Adventurers defeat the Zhentarim but it very nearly costs them Jonn’s life at the hands of Wicked Fang, forcing Hestia to charge from the stands and heal him, sending rumours flying through the court of Daerlunn and strongly hinting at the intentions of the companion, which to that point had been unknown to the courtiers of Daerlunn.

All that remained was the final challenge, the Myth Drannor team fielded by Ambassador Ullard himself to oppose the Red River Company’s plans and captained reluctantly by Giarin, Thia’s former mentor.

Part Seven: In the Alleys of Shieldmeet
"Are you the Beatdown Gang? Can you sign my boot?"

The Red River companions concieved of a plan to use the tradition of the Sun Tower Challenge, an acclaimed sporting event said to have great traditional significance to the people of Daerlunn, as a means of extorting from the City Master the means of ending Hestia’s marriage to Ambassador Ullard.

Giarin, having caught up to the companions, once again attempted to convince Thia of the need for her to return home to Myth Drannor, but Zanne managed to suck him into a street brawl. None the less, Giarin seemed fully aware of the companions’ intention to embarass the Ambassador, and he makes clear his intention to thwart them.

Jonn was contacted by his father, who was evidently now one of the most powerful merchants in Sembia, but he feared that his enemies intended to sabotage his entry into the mystical Shadow Caravan, and he once again appealed to his son to take his place as the protector of his first Shipment through the Shadowfell, so that he is not killed by his rivals. Jonn agreed as long as his father provided the companions a secure means of escaping the city undetected, anticipating the antipathy of the local nobles and the Zhentarim in the wake of the Sun Tower Challenge.

Zanne and his companions witness the capture of Jonn’s sister Anna by Zhentarim bounty hunters, who have evidently have discovered that Anna is using her father’s connections to the Shadovar and the Shadow Caravan as a means of aiding and supplying a resistance movement intended to liberate Scardale from Sembian occupation. The Companions agree to keep Anna’s secret from her father.

Part Six: Prisons
Which one was the guy who invited us into the castle? He dies first!

Staging a daring ambush, the Red River Adventurers destroy the bizzare construct known as Maximas, in an attempt to free Horiam from the machine’s custody. Horiam thanked his new friends and warned Jonn that the Shadovar are trying to resurrect the Shadoweave, a mystical Shadowfell weapon of great destructive power in the Ordulin Maelstrom. Horiam taught Redgar the means by which they would in time be able to communicate over long distance, and told the companions that when the times comes he would provide them the means to destroy the Shadowweave, but that he must return to Ordulin if he is going to be able to be in place when he is needed.

Hoping to prevent the announced marriage between Hestia and Ambassador Ullard, the Red River Adventurers headed to Pyren Keep, where they hoped to find Hestia’s father, Lord Pyren, who could withdraw the engagement. Instead the comapanions find Pyren keep surrounded by undead forces seemingly intent on breeching the castle walls. After a protracted fight the company flees insider the castle only to discover it is currently under the control of the Zhentarim, the feared mercenaries of Bane’s great Black Network.

The Zhentarim captured the companions and they were interrogated by the vampire, Commander Dabamorn, who learned Redgar’s identity and seemed intent on blackmailing or ransoming the Purple Throne. Once Dabamorn left, the companions turned the tables on their captors and retook Pyren castle from the Zhentarim, only to discover that Lord Pyren had no intention of ending his daughter’s engagement now that it may be the only chance his family has of maintaining a position of standing within the court of Daerlunn.
